Computer Aided Simulation Model Verification, Testing and Optimization

Background

  • Simulation models are extensively used in industry system design and continuous improvement. Unfortunately most of up-to-date testing practices are still based on low efficient manual work and ad hoc techniques, which are error-prone, time consuming and costly, resulting in wrong conclusions and poor applicability.
  • We believe by using computer program wisely most of such tedious routine testing tasks can be eliminated by CAT software and the simulation engineers can be liberated from low-level repetitive testing jobs to more challenging and rewarding system optimization and improvement tasks.

Objective

  • To develop a set of automatic testing methodologies for verifying simulation models
  • To develop the Computer Aided Testing (CAT) software tools to help increase simulation testing productivity, lower testing cost and shorten simulation project cycle time, and, therefore, improve the model’s applicability in practice.

Approach

  • Figure 1 depicts the architecture of the CAT Software Tool we developed.
  • Simulation error sources analysis and classification
  • Sensitivity Analysis Optimization Module
  • Confidence Interval Analysis
  • Design of Experiment Analysis and Methods
