Research Interest: Professor Ko’s research focuses on developing novel theories and methodologies for the analysis and synthesis of complex systems. His research aims for identifying the critical relations among system elements and behaviors of the system. One of the main research areas is product assembly: the role of assembly in diverse industrial applications. The assembly research topics include product design, 3D printing, production systems, assembly quality, assembly supply chains, and human factors. Other research areas include sensor networks for location analysis, energy system forecasting and operation, optimization of social systems, and applied operations research and artificial intelligence.
